VOIP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is VoIP?

VoIP stands for Voice over IP (Internet Protocol). In general, it is phone service that uses your existing Internet connection. So instead of using a phone line (called a POTS or Plain Old Telephone Service line), it uses your current internet service, i.e. Comcast, Xfinity, ATT, Spectrum, etc.

Is VoIP purchased through my internet provider?

VoIP can occasionally be purchased through your internet provider, but it is more like Netflix, which is an additional service that you use on top of your internet service

What is the difference between VoIP or regular phones?

There are lots of differences, but one of the main ones is that you do not need a phone number for each phone. One phone number can be used by different phones, similar to a PBX because each phone is separate.

Can you have a voice menu?

Yes, you can have menus like “press 1 for sales, press 2 for shipping, press 3 for hours, etc”

What about voicemail?

Yes, each ‘extension’ can have a voice mail and send a transcribed email to you.

Why not just use my cell phone for my business?

Well, when you call someone from your cell phone, you are either giving out your cell phone number, or looking like a spam call if you hide it. It is better to have a work line that you can give out or publish for marketing. And when you use our app, you can make or answer a call just like you are in your office. Your customers will have a consistent phone number that you can choose when you want to answer.

Does VoIP require a lot of bandwidth?

No, VoIP uses a low amount of internet bandwith, so you will not notice it taking up your bandwidth.

Is VoIP expensive?

No, it is usually quite a bit less than your current phone service. Call us today to see what we can do for you.
